The drama series of award winning director Dalibor Matanić will have its premiere
during a special screening at New Europe Market
Zagreb, May 11th, 2016. – The Croatian drama series with an always intriguing subject, The Paper, will see its world premiere on June 14th, 2016., during this year’s fourth edition of NEM in Dubrovnik.
The Paper is a 12 episode series surrounding a newspaper redaction in Rijeka during a swift change in ownership and internal tumoil, caused by a terrible car accident. Regardless of the shocking takeover by a politically and socially influential tycoon, The Paper’s journalists continue to investigate and put together the pieces of a much bigger transitional mosaic connected to the media.
The Paper is definitely the most complicated TV Drama we have ever made, but we believe we managed to get the job done according to the highest standards of current European drama production. The biggest challenge was to turn a very difficult text, which requires a high level of concentration even when just reading it, into twelve fast-paced and exciting episodes. We are convinced that the world premiere of our show at NEM, where the first episode is going to be played for some of today’s most imporant people in the television and movie business, is going to open a lot of doors for our project far outside of Croatia. – said Nebojša Taraba, producer („Drugi plan“)
The Paper, written by Ivica Đikić, is the first TV series of Cannes Laureate Dalibor Matanić, and it is produced by the company „Drugi plan“, helmed by Nebojša Taraba and Miodrag Sila for the Croatian National Television, HRT. The series features renowned actors such as Branka Katić, Trpimir Jurkić, Aleksandar Cvjetković, Olga Palaković, Zijad Gračić and many more.
