The Russian antimonopoly authority (FAS) is about to open criminal proceedings against the state-owned enterprise “Satellite Communications”. This information was released by the FAS press office on Monday.

While inspecting the company, the antimonopoly body found out that the “Satellite communications” and executive power authorities it reports to, have repeatedly violated the laws governing competition, contract system, activities of state and municipal companies.
Given that the “Satellite Communications” will surely raise objections to the facts stated in the inspection report, the Antimonopoly Service decided to initiate proceedings on every detected fact.
Anton Pastukhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, supervising the antimonopoly law compliance in the aviation, rocket, space and nuclear industries, pointed out that there was every indication of the “Space Communications”’ discriminatory policy of providing access to infrastructure objects under the company’s jurisdiction.
As known, following the court ruling on the YUKOS case, the foreign assets of the “Satellite Communications”, as incorporated into the “Rossvyaz”, may be seized. The company is actually searching for lawyers to represent it in the French courts.
The company “Satellite Communications” has been designed and operated the communications and TV broadcasting spacecraft for over 45 years. The National Company ranks the top-10 of the world’s largest telecommunications operators and owns global-coverage satellites.
