The TV channel UΛ: Crimea, which is a part of the Public TV, started full satellite broadcasting.

In early January, the TV channel UΛ: Crimea started broadcasting via the satellite Amos-2 (4°W) of the Israeli company Spacecom. It took the frequency, previously used for broadcasts of the TV channel UΛ: Pershyi. This is stated in the announcement posted on the web site of the National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU).

The editorial staff of the UΛ: Crimea will be headquartered in Kiev. In the future, the team of UΛ: Crimea, the youngest TV channel in the structure of the public broadcaster, is planning to increase gradually its own production. The plans are to launch news in three languages (Ukrainian, Russian and Crimean Tatar), new talk shows on various subjects, historical, cultural and educational broadcasts. It is also scheduled to show thematic films. In addition to news about the Crimea, the TV channel will present general news about Ukraine and world events. That is, the UΛ: Crimea will not be limited just to the Crimean subjects.

“The main target audience of the UΛ: Crimea is the Crimean residents, displaced residents and all those interested in the Crimea within Ukraine and abroad”, as the announcement states.

Mikhail Shmatov, Deputy Director General for the Coordination of NTU Branches, points out that the UΛ: Crimea should not be taken as a channel of propaganda, agitation or counterpropaganda of Russian TV channels. It should be taken as a bridge between the Mainland Ukraine and the Crimea.

“Launching UΛ: Crimea is both execution of law, and our responsibility of public broadcaster. The Crimea is not a disputed territory, but the territory of Ukraine, so the Ukrainian broadcasting of the Crimean TV channel must exist. And that’s it”, as Mr. Shmatov summarizes.

The broadcasts are also available to watch on the UΛ: Crimea’s official web site, which was run in late 2016.

Broadcasting parameters of the TV channel: Crimea:
