One of the largest Russian pirate sites NoNaMe Club is now locked for a lifetime in the country.

The reason for blocking access to the NNM Club became illegal uploads of Soviet-era movies, the copyrights of which are held by the film studio “Mosfilm”. It is reported by the site administration.

The Cinema Group filed a lawsuit with the Moscow City Court against illegal unloads on the web site of a number of Soviet-era classic movies like “Afonya”, “White Sun of the Desert”, “Viy”, “Flight delay”, “Scarecrow”, “Two Captains”, “The Very Same Munchhausen” and others. We shall point out that the film studio itself provided near 600 movies for free viewing, except for the “Two Captains”, “Scarecrow” and “Flight delay”. However, its claim was satisfied anyway, and the resource was shut down for a “lifetime” and put on the Banned Sites Register by Roskomnadzor.

The site administration, in turn, is not in a hurry to close it, and the resource actually operates using the “to” domain. Moreover, the site will arrange the “Mosfilm Day”, i.e. the copyright icons will be removed from movies uploads, and the files will be able to be downloaded even by users not registered on the NoNaMe Club. These actions are carried out in response to the “Mosfilm”s conduct.

We shall recall that Russia has also locked for a lifetime the largest site with unlicensed content RuTracker: the first judgement was pronounced by the Moscow City Court on November 9 last year, and the second one was delivered near a month later, on December 4. The NGO Roskomsvoboda was about to challenge the Court’s ruling, but as from January 25 this year, the resource became unavailable for Russian users. The Mediasat previously reported that the RuTracker’s administration wanted to buy a domain in the RuZone, and not in order to bypass a court ruling, but to protect Internet users against phishing resources. It has also become recently known that the largest pirate platform launched its “twin” mirror Rutracker.net to see the reaction of judicial authorities.
