The company Baltic Media Union (BMU), holding rebroadcasting rights for Russian TV channels, made a statement in connection with their cut-off to the Baltcom subscribers.

BMU, due to the expiration of the agreement with the telecom operator Baltcom, terminated broadcasting the Russian channels “Moya Planeta”, “KHL”, “RTR-Planeta”, “Nauka 2.0” to its subscribers. The new agreement was not signed, as the parties failed to agree the price for broadcasting Russian TV channels.

The Baltcom’s press office attributes that termination of broadcasting Russian TV channels to the decision of the National Electronic Media Council. Thus, according to the Baltcom, this is the very reason for the TV channel “Russia-RTR”’s disappearing off the operator’s network, as well as other changes in package offers. At the same time, the operator offers the same number of TV channels as declared before.

For their part, the Baltic Media Union’s representatives emphasize their readiness to resume broadcasting Russian TV channels at any moment, offering the Baltcom subscribers to watch traditional programs. The only condition is to sign relevant contractual commitments by the parties.

The Baltic Media Union is the largest company officially providing citizens in the Baltic, Scandinavian countries, as well as in Southern Europe, with watching foreign TV channels. Since 1993 the company has been cooperating with over 100 telecom operators in Europe, and the leading players of the Russian media market are among its partners as well.
