LeEco plans to launch content production in Russia

“Chinese Netflix» told about their plans in the field of cinema.
As is was reported by TASS agency, Chinese corporation LeEco may start movies and TV series production in Russia. Victor Xu, the head of LeRee (LeEco Russia and Eastern Europe), told about such a plans.
According to him, LeEco will not be building a studios, but will deal with the production development:
“In particular, we plan to develop our own production and co-production in Russia with the participation of producers, directors, actors and actresses.”
Victor Xu also confirmed the company’s plans to launch online movie theaters. However, it is still unknown whether it will be the acquisition of an already existing platform, or creating own one. As the Head of LeRee stated, currently both options of further development are considered.
As a reminder, earlier it was assumed that LeEco was interested in purchasing two Russian video services – ivi.ru and Megogo. However, later it became known that the company was negotiating with other big Russian online theaters – Okko, TVZavr and Tvigle. Also Mediasat has previously written that LeEco acquired a US Smart TVs manufacturer Vizio.
