Q3 Results: Despite the Decrease in Number of Mobile Internet Subscribers, the “Kyivstar” Grows Revenue

The national telecom operator reported on the financial and operating data in the third quarter 2016.

The number of mobile Internet users of “Kyivstar” decreased by 9% in the third quarter of this year, against the same period last year, i.e. from 11.7 million to 10.6 million people.

However, it did not prevent from the operator’s reaching a total revenue growth by 9% up to UAH 3.922 in the third quarter. As a result, the proceeds from mobile data transmission services increased by 61% over the same period.

In July-September 2016, the “Kyivstar” managed increasing the EBITDA indicator by 18% (UAH 2.2 billion), against the same period last year. The EBITDA margin increased by 4.3 percentage points, up to 55.3%. The capital costs amounted to UAH 860 million in the third quarter of this year.

In July-September 2016, the operator went on expanding its 3G network coverage. At the moment, it covers the territory with 52% of Ukrainian residents. For reference: as of the late 2015, the coverage was 35%.

The “Kyivstar” Company keeps on investing in the development of new technologies in Ukraine. During the first 9 months of the current year, the operator’s cumulative investment totaled over UAH 1.8 billion.

The receipts from fixed-line services went up by 10%, against the same quarter of 2015 and amounted to UAH 261 million, mainly due to the “Home Internet” service. The proceeds from this service grew by 13%, against the same period last year.

Let us recall that earlier the mobile operator lifecell presented its own results in the third quarter of this year.
