“1+1 Media” Launches an App for Watching Films and TV Series on Android Smartphones

The “1+1 Media” Group launched a mobile application for Android devices with films and TV series of VOD-platform 1+1 Video. One can download the app from the Google Play online store.

The video library, the app provides access to, accounts for over 20 thousand hours of feature and documentary films, TV series, and entertaining shows of the media group’s production. Similar to the web platform, users of the application have an option of watching live broadcasts of 7 TV channels of the media group: 1+1 International, “1+1”, “2+2”, “TET”, “PLUSPLUS”, “Bigudi” and “UNIAN TV”, as well as 5 partner broadcasters’ channels like ZIK, “UA: Pershyi”, “Gromadske TV”, “Channel 24” and “Channel 8”.

In addition, in the “Unlimited Video” pack by Kyivstar, as well as “Zhara” and “Absolute Freedom” by lifecell, the subscribers of two mobile operators are granted free access without billing traffic of the 1+1 Video app.

“We observe a growing content consumption on mobile devices, so we are eager to develop the monetization of these platforms. So far we gave been working under the advertising model, but in the near future we will introduce a paid subscription. It is important for us to provide viewers with a choice and a convenient content payment format. Thus in the future this product will have two monetization models: advertising and paid subscription. If our estimates turn out effective, then we will release a version for iOS smartphones next year”, as stated by Anna Tkachenko, Chief Digital Officer at “1+1 Media.

The app provides for several operation modes for convenient watching video on smartphones both in dim and sunny lighting on the street. The short-term product development plans are to implement a user personal area and an option of arranging favorite video collections.
