OneWeb reorganized the joint venture with the Roscosmos-owned Gonets Satellite System Stock Company. So, the stock company increased its share in OneWeb, practically gaining control over the project in Russia. This is featured by Telesputnik.

The Roscosmos unit’s share in the joint venture with OneWeb actually amounts to 51% against 40% before. The satellite operator initiated reorganization due to the requirements of Russian laws.

It is also reported that recently, the OneWeb Project obtained the UK space agency’s financial backing. An investment of €20.55 million was allocated for the development of an artificial intelligence to control the satellite system.

According to the recent data, the launch of OneWeb satellites by means of the Russian Soyuz launch vehicle is scheduled for February 26. The launch vehicle’s start was repeatedly rescheduled due to the micro-crack detected in the booster and subsequent maintenance.

Let us recall that earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia announced the terms of allocating frequencies to OneWeb. The project will get the relevant resource only if it does not harm Russian telecom operators’ activities.

But before that, Russia’s former Minister of Communications began to build a pool of investors to acquire a share in the satellite operator’s company.
