The satellite TV service provider “NTV-PLUS” increased the cost of its TV packages. This is subject to the increased number of incorporated TV channels. The subscribers will actually have to pay fivefold for the tariff plan “Light” with the lowest monthly fee.
The “NTV-PLUS” increased the cost of its services as from February 1 this year, simultaneously extending the content of package offers by incorporating sports channels.
Thus, the basic tariff plan offered to the residents of the European Russia (“Basic” West), costs 150 rubles per month as from February 1, instead of 90 rubles.
Along with the cost increase of the package, the latter was completed by two sports channels “Match! Nash Sport” (Our Sport) dedicated to sports events in Russia, and “Nash Football” (Our football) broadcasting the Russian Football Championship. In total, the “Basic” package will contain 167 TV channels. The price for additional package offers increased as well. The cost of the tariff plan “Detskiy” (Children’s) increased by 20 rubles (up to 90 rubles per month) and the one of “Nochnoy” (Night) increased by 40 rubles (up to 170 rubles per month).
In addition, the “NTV-PLUS” suspended subscription to the “Start” package, which incorporates mandatory TV channels distributed free of charge, according to the law. The previously connected subscribers can still continue enjoying the service.
The company clarified that the “Start” package of channels was initially introduced in order to connect the “NTV-PLUS” without signing contracts, at that near 50% of subscribers shifted afterwords to the provider’s paid package offers. It is still unknown how the operator will go on fulfilling the legislative requirement on mandatory free broadcasts of federal TV channels.
