Big Data Ua, independent rating agency, and the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine declared on mutual cooperation launch in TV viewing monitoring area on OTT/IPTV platforms. It was reported during the joint press conference on October 24.
The National regulator of media market will use Big Data Rating system to analyze TV channels viewing and will also make public the results of analysis. Thus, strengthening of cooperation between the National Council and a private company will increase analytics level on domestic TV market and improve the efficiency of changes addressing by the state.
“Independent rating agency Big Data Ua will provide information and data to the state body that is authorized to regulate media market. Mentioned data is the result of independent monitoring of TV channels viewing on ОТТ/IPTV packages of the leading providers in Ukraine. It should be mentioned that currently the monitoring is covering more than 450 thousand of households in Ukraine. Taking into account the continuous growth of the audience which uses OTT services, data of TV viewing, which will be provided by the independent rating agency, shall testify that the regulator intends to ensure development and promote modern technologies use in the market”, Founder and Director of Big Data Ua Serhii Boyko commented on cooperation with the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.
Both institutions (press conference participants) think that use of contemporaneous and advanced technologies of private sector could benefit state regulation purposes, in particular they will improve services provided by the state and investment attractiveness of the national market.
Additionally, press conference participants said they would extend the cooperation especially with regards to other products of Big Data Ua. Mr. Artemenko and Mr. Boyko believe it shall strengthen transparency in the Pay TV market of Ukraine.
