This March, a new company called Prime Time appeared on the Russian market of TV content producers.
20% of company’s shares are held by Vyacheslav Murugov, Director General, while the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) and the National Media Group (NMG) hold 40% each.
Last November, when it was announced for the first time about founding a new company, the CTC Media Holding was also nominated as an owner to hold 30% of shares like VGTRK and NMG. The remaining 10% were to be distributed among top managers of that new company. In order to implement that project Vyacheslav Murugov resigned the position of
CTC’s Director General and CTC Media’s Producer. According to Kommersant edition’s information, CTC Media didn’t become the owner of new TV content production company due to restructuring.
The Prime Time Company was very active, having offered new projects and ideas to some channels. As well-informed sources report, we can see Art Pictures Vision as a Prime Time’s partner.
The Russian federal channels spend huge money on the prime content. Thus, according to KVG Research’s estimates, in 2013 they spent for that purpose over 44 billion rubles. In its turn it leads to a competition among companies producing TV content.
