After  annexation of the Crimea Estonia intensified work on creating its TV channel, which is aimed against the Kremlin propaganda.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the taxpayers would pay for a new Estonian TV channel, scheduled for launching in early autumn, over USD 4 million annually.
After some months of doubts the Western countries started a real battle for the minds of Russian-speaking Europeans who are regularly subject to a more large-scale and aggressive Kremlin propaganda.
It is planned that the main new channel’s audience would be the Russian-speaking population of Estonia. The purpose for creating this resource is to attract the attention of Russian-speaking citizens to the TV news that shows a political position opposite to official Russia. Those who have already expressed their support for the Estonian TV project, say that for the Baltic region it will surely become a good sample.
The TV viewing grid will contain about 20 hours of original TV programs weekly. Now the Northern Europe offers Estonia the broadcasting rights for TV shows with Russian dubbing. Germany will provide a Russian-language release of news and documentaries. The US diplomats have been currently negotiating with film studios.
According to the edition, after the annexation of Crimea workout of the TV channel’s design was significantly intensified, because the peninsula’s TV, subordinated to the Kremlin, applied all its efforts to assign pro-Russian sentiment among its viewership. Some European politicians expressed their concern about the fact that the Kremlin aggression might have more ambitious plans of expanding its controlled area from the Baltic to the Balkans.
