There is no more analog terrestrial television in Belarus.

The relevant ministry of Belarus officially informed the Belorussian Telegraph Agency that pursuant to the agreement Geneva-2006, the analog TV broadcasting was shut off throughout the country on June, 17.

Hereafter the analog TV frequencies remain beyond international protection. The gradual analog TV transmitters’ turn-off started in Belarus still in 2013. At that time the country disabled transmitters in Kostiukovichi, Bobruisk, Osipovichi and Zhlobin. During that period the country turned off 176 devices, transmitting the analog signal, 42 stations stopped TV broadcasting in the analog format. This May there were turned off transmitters within the ultra-high frequency band.

According to the Ministry of Communications, as on June, 17 Belarus completed all stages of shutting off analog transmitters within 174-230 MHz and 470-862 MHz.

Thus, the country fully transits to the digital terrestrial broadcasting. To do so, Belarus built adequate infrastructure ensuring to receive the digital TV in DVB-T format for 99% of residents. To ensure broadcasting the social package of eight mandatory TV channels and one radio channel there were involved 91 digital transmitters.

The analog terrestrial TV shut-off resulted in liberating radio frequencies, intended to be used for providing residents with modern communication services based on new technologies. It is stipulated by the agreements internationally adopted in this sector.
