The VGTRK Company and the Indian State Broadcasting Corporation Prasar Bharati agreed on broadcasting cooperation.

The agreement provides for exchanging programs covering culture, arts, business, science, fundamental research and high technologies. The short-term plans imply the launch of mobile TV and pay-TV channels package.
The Indian State Broadcasting Corporation Prasar Bharati signed a memorandum with the VGTRK’s joint venture PJSC Rostelecom and JSC Central Television.
It is emphasized that out of the 234 million Indian households 167 million have access to the TV channels of Prasar Bharati. The Durdashan Direct satellite platform has 64 television and 24 radio channels, and the operator’s subscriber base amounts to over 40 million subscribers.
The cooperation program not only expands the range of content of the holding’s channels, but will also contribute to the development of the creative potential of media professionals, as stated in the release.
The contract provides for establishing joint Russian-Indian enterprises for creating and distributing TV channels, TV content, digital applications, and organizing theatrical release and licensing.
The memorandum covers both adaptation of popular TV formats and works and knowledge exchange under the content production technologies.
We enter the Indian market in order to build a large-scale business in the field of pay-TV and digital media, in partnership with the leading national broadcaster, content producers and distribution platforms, declares Dmitry Mednikov, the Deputy CEO at VGTRK and Chairman of DTV, quoted by RIA Novosti.
