Alexey Kholodov, the President of the National Satellite Company, informed ComNews.ru that the Tricolor TV, one of the leading Russian digital TV operators, would soon run on the market the broadcasting of full-valued TV channels in Ultra HD quality.
Mr. Kholodov points out that the company has acquired all required operator’s equipment and is prepared to broadcast TV channels in Ultra HD in November.
In his interview, he also emphasizes that TV broadcasting will move towards a qualitative image improvement. For sure, this process provides for availability of corresponding equipment not only for operators, but also for users. Alexey Kholodov expresses confidence that in the near future Ultra HD will become a mass phenomenon, as this format is a logical continuation of HD-broadcasting. Tricolor TV has been broadcasting demo versions of the French operator Eutelsat’s TV channel for a year, and after acquiring new equipment it will be able to broadcast full-valued Ultra HD channels.
According to Mr. Kholodov, the TV broadcasting will switch to HD-format by 2025, and the content will be partially available in 4K and 8K format. The Tricolor TV Company intends to lead this process, and to convert the whole broadcasting in HD-format. In this regard, the main objective of the operator is to design an offer that would meet both the preferences of subscribers and technological innovations in the TV broadcasting market.
