The Russian company that designs spacecrafts (SC) for providing various modes of communication and TV broadcasting offered its version of the reason why the Israeli communications satellite ceased to function.

According to the ISS Reshetnev Company, the Amos- 5 belonging to the Israeli company SpaceCom terminated its operation because it was hit by a meteorite. This is informed by “Izvestia” referring to the company’s report.
According to Nikolay Testoyedov, CEO at ISS, the theory that it was hit by a meteoric  particle may be true, as the operation of the communications satellite  stopped instantly. Mr. Testoyedov points out that it is not possible in case of failure of any system, as they are backed up, and the SC moves to a secondary operation scheme.
He also placed his focus on the fact that an instantaneous shut down of Amos-5 in orbit make it impossible to find the breakdown cause, so the company’s professionals may consider just failure probabilities.
The SpaceCom did not comment on the version.
