The new application run by the online cinema Tvzavr will allow owners of Smart-TVs in 248 countries to watch movies, animation and TV series produced in Russia.

The “Russian Cinema” (the app’s name) was run under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Roskino. This project, valued at USD 1 million, was implemented in the framework of the Year of Cinema held in Russia and aimed at promoting a wide expansion of the Russian cinematic products in other countries.

The application is currently available to be installed just by the owners of LG TV-sets, but very soon it will be able to use at the receiving equipment of other manufacturers. In addition, it is planned to release a mobile and online version of the application.

The RBC edition, referring to Marina Surygina, Online Cinema’s Director, points out that the study of Tvzavr’s audience preferences evidences that Russian movies are the leaders in online box office sales. Such movies as “Gorko-2”, “Dukhless 2”, “Warrior” keep ahead of the foreign ones in online releases. It is due in no small part to the fact that the Russian-made movies appear on Tvzavr almost simultaneously with their premiere screenings in cinemas.

The “Russian Cinema” will provide content both for a fee, and free of charge. The resource plans to make money mainly on advertising. A monthly fee of the application will cost 249 rubles for Russians and 4 euros for other countries’s residents.
