Since the launch of 3G in Ukraine (almost a year ago), its users have numbered over 10 million mobile network subscribers.

According to the data of the research firm Expert & Consulting, referred to by the “NV-Business”, about 11 million Ukrainian users opted for a high-speed mobile Internet in 2015.

In general, the mobile internet (including its GPRS/EDGE format) was enjoyed by 26.6 million subscribers, which is nearly half of all mobile subscribers who accounted for 58.6 million at the beginning of the year.

The mobile operator “Kyivstar”, according to the results of the first quarter of this year, can boast of 5 million 3G active users. The company’s press office specified that the high-speed internet access is preferred by 21% of customers to view streaming video, and by 63% of subscribers to look through web pages.

The operator lifecell refers to 2.2 million users of the third generation of telecommunications tecnology. The Ukrainian representative of Vodafone reported only the number of mobile devices in the network that can use 3G (6.9 million), but did not specify how many of them actually did it.

The first network providing 3G-communications was started on May 19, 2015 in Lviv. It was implemented by the company life:) (rebranded to lifecell later on). The lifecell is one of the three largest Ukrainian mobile operators that obtained a license for providing 3G-services on February 23, 2015.
