The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) did not give a permit to commercial television group “1 + 1 media” to purchase Viasat Ukraine DTH-platform. This was announced today by Iaroslav Pakholchuk, the director of the media holding, during a press breakfast with the journalists.

Mr. Paholchuk noted that “1 + 1 media” is still interested in acquiring of Viasat Ukraine’s assets from the Swedish holding Modern Times Group (MTG). However, it requires obtaining a permit from the regulatory and antimonopoly authorities.

“We signed the engagement agreement with MTG to acquire the platform as early as March 2016 but the AMCU has not given permission for the transaction completion since that time. “1+1 media” regularly submits requests and documents to the AMCU, and in the near future we will file a new package of documents to them” – said Iaroslav Pakholchuk.

As a reminder, it became known in early March 2016 that the Swedish media holding MTG is ready to sell the satellite TV platform Viasat Ukraine. The purchaser is Ukrainian holding “1+1 media” owned by businessman Igor Kolomoisky. At the same time Viasat Ukraine began to transfer TV channels from the satellite Astra 4A (4.8° E) to the Amos 3 satellite (4° W).

In late July, the heads of Viasat Ukraine satellite operator took a decision to withdraw membership in the Telecommunications Chamber of Ukraine.
