All Channels of the “1+1 Media” Holding Passed to Wide-Screen Broadcasting

On the first summer day, the “1+1 Media” switched its TV channels “2+2” and “UNIAN” to broadcast in the format 16:9. Thus, it was finalized a gradual transition of all the media holding’s channels to a wide-screen TV broadcasting format.

According to the “1+1 Media”’s press office, the transition to the 16:9 format started in 2016 within the general strategy for launching HD versions of own channels.

Now, the audiences can watch their favorite films, shows and TV series of the channels “1+1”, “PlusPlus”“2+2”“TET”“UNIAN”“Bigudi” in a wide-screen format, without so-called “black bars” on a TV-console, as the press release specifies.

“For the 1+1 Media Group, this means that at noon on June 1, we entered a new age of 16:9/HD, saying final goodbye to the age 4:3”, as stated by Philip Petrenco, Chief Technology Officer at “1+1 Media” Group.
