Ukraine evidences the market launch of the new set-top box Openbox A6 UHD, designed for watching TV in ultra-high definition format (UHD or 4K TV).

The company Sat Systems presented a new media device Openbox A6 UHD; a set-top box based on the operating system Android 7.0 Nougat.

The manufacturer’s press office explained to the Mediasat reporter that it was a new generation of high-quality OTT devices with OS Android seriously redesigned and optimized for comfortable work as a set-top box.

The heart of the Openbox A6 UHD is its powerful processor Hisilicon Hi3798MV200. Its performance is more than enough for playing large video files, as well as for comfortable work of “heavy” applications like Kodi (XBMC), and for running various 3D games. But even more import is that due to the Hisilicon’s excellent architecture and high-quality software, it was ensured a stable operation with OTT, VoD and other services.

Let us point out that the set-top box is compatible with formats like High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), as well as supports H.265 video codec (HEVC). It is also equipped with HDMI 2.0 output with resolution up to 3840x2160p (4K Ultra HD) 60fps.

The delivery set of Openbox A6 UHD includes a common remote control Openbox. Its main feature is inside the “TV” button. That is, the remote is programmable, and you can use it to control both tour set-top box and TV-set. This feature will allow audience to forget the problem of changing two remotes, and to enjoy using set-top box with ease.

It is worth adding that the delivery set includes an external IR receiver commanded by the remote control in case of placing set-top box behind a TV-set or fixing it on the rear panel.
