EU Music is the first Ukrainian channel to start satellite broadcasting in Ka-band.
The Ukrainian music channel EU Music will soon start broadcasting via the satellite “Eutelsat Ka-Sat 9A”, located it the orbital position of 9 degrees east longitude. The telecom operator delivering the channel’ signal to the satellite is the company “Datagroup”. The broadcasting will be carried out in an uncoded mode.
The change in orbital position of the EU Music channel is because of increased satellite jamming efforts, which have been recently observed with the satellite “Astra 4A” (4,8°E), via which, in fact, the EU Music broadcasted before.
It is noteworthy that the satellite “Eutelsat Ka-Sat 9A” distributes signal in Ka band that complicates its reception by standard satellite equipment, but in this case it is a new method for distributing signal to the corporate segment, and, optionally, for anti-jamming and interference. However, the channel is set for providing its partners with equipment for uninterrupted satellite signal reception.
“The TV channel gives the receiving equipment to providers (VSAT station, Ed.)”, as Mediasat reporter was informed by the EU Music’s press office.
Let us recall that at its recent meeting, the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council made changes to the satellite license of the TV channel, thereby approving the channel’s switch from the satellite “Astra 4A”, owned by the Luxembourg company SES, to the space vehicle “Eutelsat Ka-Sat 9A”, operated by the French company Eutelsat.
Ka-band is used to provide broadband Internet access services. Therefore, due to broadcasting in this band, the EU Music does become a pioneer on the Ukrainian market.
EU Music started operating in November last year, as a result of rebranding of the TV channel RU Music.
