The OTT services market is one of the most growing markets in Russia, and therefore it attracts even more attention of various experts and analysts.

Thus, basing on its research J’son & Partners Consulting Company came to a conclusion that Russians considered computer to be the most preferred way of watching movies online (54% of the total users). Smart TV sets are used by 30%, while Smartphones and tablets are used by 15%.

The analysts are unanimous in their view that both Smart TV and mobile devices will gain leading positions. They believe it will be favored by increasing sales of Smart TV sets (last year they already reached 22%) and developing new IT projects, especially the multiscreen technology.

Under the analytic company’s data, OTT services subscribers live geographically mainly in the Central and Volga regions of the Russian Federation (31% and 18% respectively). The same regions are leaders in using pay television, but the audience of online cinemas is more dispersed. Despite the general increasing number of OTT services subscribers, the process is slowed down in some regions by low speed and high prices of Internet access.
