A Minsk operator was convicted of illegal broadcasting.

The Supreme Court of Belarus has passed sentence upon a Minsk cable TV operator that violated the copyright law. The convicted is liable for paying 90 million rubles of compensation to Belarusian music artists, as reported by “Belnovosti”.
As it became known, the capital operator illegally broadcasted tracks of musicians without paying them the percentage of earnings.
The trial was initiated after the claim filed by the National Intellectual Property Center, which was shortly sustained by the Supreme Court of the country. As a result, the offender was convicted and sentenced to pay 90 million rubles of compensation to the artists and another 4 million 500 thousand rubles as payment of the state duty. The convicted is not authorized to appeal from the judgment.
In March, the Mediasat reported that the criminal case was started against two residents of the Republic of Belarus, who sold equipment ensuring to watch pay-per-view TV channels without fee. We shall also recall that in June, a Belarusian resident was convicted of selling pirate equipment that made it possible to watch pay-per-view TV channels of the operator “Tricolor TV”.
