The company will have to pay a pretty sum.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) committed the operator of digital terrestrial TV network Zeonbud to pay UAH 44 million as a penalty for its long-time standing to benefit from its monopolistic position in the digital TV services market. This information was posted by Yuri Terentyev, the chairman of that government agency, in his profile on Facebook:

ZEONBUD. The AMCU has just ruled on the case over the abuse of monopolistic position of “ZEONBUD”, the operator of digital multichannel TV network consisting of four multiplexes in the standard DVB-T2 (MPEG-4). It was licensed by the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council in December 2010. The Committee’s decision imposed a fine of UAH 44 million”.
We shall recall that the court recognized the company a monopoly in late December 2014 for the first time. But then a flurry of trials to recognize or reject the monopoly status of Zeonbud lasted for many months. As a result, on June 18 the ruling of the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal finally established the AMCU’s case.
We shall also point out that the members of the political parties “Samopomich” and “Narodny Front” registered a draft law providing for the nationalization of the LLC “Zeonbud”.
