The TV channel Ukraine Today released information that it would stop broadcasting and focus exclusively on Internet activities as from April 1 this year.

As known, the TV channel Ukraine Today is one of the resources of the media holding “1+1 Media”, owned by Igor Kolomoisky.

The TV channel has broadcasted via satellite since August 24, 2014. It covers events in the Eastern Europe and Ukraine, and broadcasts in English.

The TV channel’s management believes that its main objective is achieved for today, as the target audience, its preferences and ways of obtaining information are defined. Accordingly, the management decided to move its operation to the Internet, focusing on developing and maintaining the website.

In addition, it is pointed out that the TV channel’s work was largely socially induced, and the Ukraine Today was an important part of the information policy of Ukraine and, as the media holding’s management estimates, it coped with its functions successfully.

After the creation of the state international resource, the Ukraine Today may consider its mission completed. The TV channel’s management is ready to provide relevant assistance and support to the public broadcaster.

It may be further on decided that the broadcasting grid of the TV channel 1+1 International will be completed by news briefs in English.

The media resources of the “1+1 Media” Group are also TV channels 1+1, TET, Unian TV, 2+2, Plus Plus, online editions Telekritika, Glavred and news agency UNIAN.
