Intellecom Company together with telecommunications equipment manufacturers Ericsson and Huawei Technologies hold a presentation of 4G (LTE TDD). The presentation was held in Kyiv where the base station Ericsson was installed in a single room.

During the event, a series of tests was made – testing the maximum speed, voice and video calls, as well as watching videos on the Internet in high definition in real time. Also there was made a number of calls to phones supporting 4G standard, as well as to the GSM-network of one of Ukrainian mobile operators and to landline phone.

The network operated at a frequency of 2300 MHz (Band 40), and combination of the two carrier frequencies 20 + 20 MHz allowed to get the real speed 208-220 Mbit / s of 224 theoretically possible.

LTE TDD standard is quite common in the world (especially in Asia) – at the moment 77 commercial networks in 43 countries are using it.

The number of LTE subscribers in the world is rapidly growing, above all, due to the penetration of smartphones. Ericsson has already launched LTE in 102 countries around the world. Today’s testing presentation showed that the launch the networks of the fourth generation is the next logical step in the development of mobile networks in Ukraine.

Today Intellecom (90% of the company belongs to Igor Litovchenko, the former president of Kyivstar) provides high-speed Internet access based on WiMax technology under the brand Giraffe. In addition, recently Intellecom filed the application to NCCRI to switch the standard from WiMax to LTE TDD (4G).
