The new video service owners plan to develop it in other Russian-speaking countries.

As Kommersant writes, owners of Nemo TV online video service were changed. Dmitry Kariakin, the project founder, has sold 100 % of the project to the shareholders of Kazakh satellite operator Caspio HD Yerzhan Isabaieva, German Nurbaiev and Talgat Shakenov. The amount of this transaction was not disclosed.

Nemo TV provides paid access to TV channels on TV sets with Smart TV function and mobile devices, as well as using set-top boxes. According to the service representatives, the number of registered subscribers is about a million. The owners of the Kazakh satellite TV operator will save Nemo TV brand and are planning to start its development in other markets with the Russian-speaking population. Breakeven point achievement is expected in three years.

” Software and interface are the great company’s advantages. This business is focused on tomorrow “, – said Yerzhan Isabaev.

This online video service was launched early in 2014. The amount of investments was USD 20 million. However, the former co-owners have not received the expected revenue, so they left the project. Dmitry Kariakin explains that operation activities were almost not financed in recent times, therefore, a search for new investors is conducted. This was the reason why Nemo TV development was almost suspended.

As a reminder, another player is planning to enter the Russian market – the Chinese company LeEco thought about running the video service. Also it became known that the Russian mobile operator VimpelCom and Okko service are planning to launch a joint project.
