In the next six months, the telecom company Vega will decide whether it competes in the upcoming LTE tender, as the Liga.Biznes informs, referring to Murat Cinar, CEO at Vega.

Mr. Cinar stated that the decision was still pending, and the issue would be resolved in the first half of 2017.

As is known, the MMDS Ukraine, owned by the Vega, appealed to the regulatory authority and suggested giving 50% of frequencies of 2.5 – 2.7 GHz (80 MHz) back to the government for a certain compensation, which would not exceed 25% of the starting price of the LTE slots. Roughly, the total compensation for the Vega may reach over half a billion hryvnias, i.e. this amount is equal to the starting price of one 4G license.

Mr. Cinar reported that practically all over the world, some broadband providers launched LTE connection without having 2G and 3G networks.

LTE tenders should be prepared by the regulatory authority before the end of 2017.
