On January 11, the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council re-issued satellite-broadcasting licenses to the TV channels STB and ICTV in terms of changing specifications. The new license specifies that the channels’ satellite signal shall be distributed in an encrypted form, and not free-to-air, as before.

The National Broadcasting Council took a quick and private decision without any explanation or discussion with STB TV channel, as the “Detector Media” informs.

According to the edition, on December 7, the National Broadcasting Council postponed for an indefinite period the STB TV channel’s application for modifying its satellite license in terms of signal distribution. That day, only two out of six members of the National Broadcasting Council (Valentin Koval and Oleg Chernysh) voted for making amendments to the STB’s satellite license.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that the encryption of Ukrainian satellite channels was scheduled for the spring of 2018. And the above package would cost some 50 hryvnias.
