“Inter Group” TV Channels are allowed to be encrypted on satellite

The National Broadcasting Council reissued satellite licenses to the TV channels “Inter”, NTN, “Mega”, K1, K2, “Pixel”, “Enter-Film” and Zoom in view of changes in their broadcasting parameters. The channels’ satellite signal resulted encrypted instead of free-to-air, as featured by “Detector


Media”.

The Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council Iurii Artemenko remembered that earlier (January 11) the National Council authorized satellite encryption to the TV channels STB and ICTV.

The National Council’s only requirement for the encrypted-to-be TV channels is to provide the Council with access to watch and monitor their broadcasts.

The only member of the National Broadcasting Council, who abstained from encryption voting, was Serhii Kostynskyi.

The National Broadcasting Council also reissued the satellite license to the TV channel “Inter+”, which indicated that its broadcasts were targeted at foreign countries.

Upon preliminary information, the four largest media groups of Ukraine (StarLightMedia, “1+1 Media”, “Media Group Ukraine” and “Inter Media Group” are planning to encrypt their TV channels’ satellite signal in the autumn of 2018.
