The analog TV broadcasting was cut off in eight districts of Azerbaijan, as the Trend news agency informs.

This was officially announced by the “Teleradio” Union held by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic.

Today, broadcasting in eight districts with analog cut-off at midnight on December 1, is carried out either via satellite or in the digital standard. Thus, the transition to a new TV ground took place in Gobustan, Quba, Shamakhi, Xizi, Khachmaz, Siazan, Shabran and Qusar.

To watch TV in that new standard, viewers should get a decoder, which can be purchased at post offices in all the above districts. The device price starts at 22 manats. The sales of decoders at post offices were arranged to suppress artificially inflated prices and allow for buying desired devices form a public entity.

As is well known, a partial analog TV switch-off in Azerbaijan was announced at the National Broadcasting Council’s meeting as far back as 27 September of present year.

The second phase of transiting to the digital standard in Azerbaijan will take place as early as December 10, when the analog broadcasting will be suspended at once in 32 country districts.

Viewers await the final stage on December 20, when the remaining 14 Azerbaijan districts fully pass to the digital broadcasting.

The country’s switching to the digital broadcasting standard lays not only in new signal quality and greater technology perspective, but also allows saving frequency resources and provides audience with new TV services.
