Internet providers will be required to specify a minimum Internet speed in the contracts concluded with the subscribers since January 01, 2017.
This decision was taken by the National Commission of Regulation the Communications and Informatization of Ukraine, and it was registered in the Ministry of Justice.
All the providers who are engaged in the provision of direct stationary Internet access will be required to specify the minimum Internet speed. In turn, Ukrainian mobile operators will be required to specify the maximum connection speed.
This is another attempt of NCRCI to put out from the market some illegal internet providers that are not registered in the public register and provide substandard services “under the counter”.
Most providers criticized this decision and noted that it is impossible to guarantee the Internet speed but Alexander Zhivotovsky, the Chairman of the National Commission, confidently stated that future changes are correct, useful and well contribute to the market.
